Veolia North America

Overview

Veolia North America, a leading operator and developer in sustainable energy technology, engaged us as a public relations partner to build awareness for their specific environmental solutions, promote their brand and secure prominent media placements. Since we came on board, awareness of the Veolia brand in its key geographic and vertical markets has increased substantially. The company has been featured in many mainstream articles and trade press and has developed its role as a thought leader.

Our Work

Our team has developed and executed sophisticated earned media campaigns that targeted both major mainstream media and widely read trade press publications. We’ve garnered several high-profile articles in key vertical trades to build industry awareness and identified and secured various thought leadership opportunities to showcase Veolia leadership as industry experts.

A key clean energy initiative that we managed for Veolia is the announcement of a multi-year agreement between GE Renewable Energy and Veolia to recycle blades removed from its US-based onshore turbines during upgrades and repowering efforts. This is a first-of-its-kind agreement in the US wind industry, using wind turbine blades to replace raw material for cement manufacturing – enabling a 27% net reduction in CO2 emissions from cement production. Blades removed from turbines are shredded and then used as a replacement for coal, sand, and clay at cement manufacturing facilities across the US. On average, nearly 90% of the blade material will be reused as a repurposed engineered material for cement production. The initial press push around the joint announcement yielded significant coverage in trade, national and business media. Coverage highlights include major features in CBS Evening News and CBS Mornings, AP, Bloomberg, CNBC, and dozens of major dailies and trade outlets.

And as wind power becomes more widely implemented across the U.S., we have pursued additional storytelling opportunities and ongoing chances to engage reporters. We have updated the number of wind blades that are recycled, leading to new rounds of coverage, as well as highlighting the technology and innovation involved.  Subsequent rounds of coverage have appeared in CNBC, Business Insider, St. Louis Public Radio (and many NPR affiliates), St. Louis Post Dispatch, the Weather Channel, GreenBiz and Wall Street Journal.

Additionally, we have conducted several media training sessions with Veolia leadership and staff to prepare them for any potential crisis communications response as well as to prepare them for regional media opportunities.
