Rasky Baerlein Promotes Melissa Monahan to Vice President

Announces Three Other Staff Promotions

November 24, 2009 (Boston) Rasky Baerlein Strategic Communications today announced that it has promoted Melissa Monahan to senior vice president of the education, healthcare and nonprofit practice group, effective immediately. The firm also announced the promotions of three staff members: P.J. Foster, Emily Gombar and Jessica DiMartino.

“Under Melissa’s leadership, we have seen the education, nonprofit and healthcare practice areas flourish, and this is due in large part to her leadership and dedication to serving clients,” said Ann Carter, CEO, Rasky Baerlein Strategic Communications. “She has grown into an excellent strategist who keenly understands the nonprofit and academic marketplaces and also has a great ability to translate the needs of her healthcare clients into creative and effective campaigns.”

Melissa manages the education, healthcare and nonprofit groups. Clients in her practice area include the Museum of Science, Lasell College, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Boston, Vanguard Health Systems and the Planning Office for Urban Affairs. Under her direction, the practice area has had 45 percent growth in revenue over last year’s billings.

Melissa’s expertise in overseeing these practice groups has been informed by her corporate and educational experiences. Prior to joining Rasky Baerlein, Melissa worked in the public affairs division of Stop & Shop Supermarket Company. She also developed and implemented an enrichment program at an elementary school on the South Shore and oversaw the school’s before and after-school programs.

Rasky Baerlein also promoted three members of its staff:

P.J. Foster was promoted to senior account executive with the crisis, reputation management and litigation support practice group, where she specializes in the development and implementation of strategy on major projects and high profile campaigns that are at the intersection of government and the media.

Emily Gombar has been promoted to senior account executive in the Washington, D.C. office. She specializes in implementing integrated public affairs programs for clients, such as Emerald Infrastructure Development Fund, First Wind, Iron Mountain, and GDF Suez.

Jessica DiMartino is now account coordinator with the crisis, reputation management and litigation support practice group. Jessica supports the team’s clients by tracking and managing media, drafting statements, conducting media audits, research and analysis, and implementing media relations outreach. Previously, Jessica served as the executive assistant to Larry Rasky, the chairman of Rasky Baerlein.
